What is BS 5131-3.5 – Pipiness test of footwear materials about?
BS 5131-3.5 is an International standard that focuses on best practices for testing for footwear and footwear material. It gives testing methods for pipiness methods for footwear and upper materials. BS 5131-3.5 describes a method for assessing the amount of wrinkling of the grain of upper leather, or the top surface of synthetic material when it is folded inwards to a standard curvature. BS 5131-3.5 is applicable to whole skins, sheet material, cut components and made-up shoes.
