BS EN 60196 is a European standard that discusses the IEC standard frequencies. A frequency standard generates a fundamental frequency with a high degree of accuracy and precision. The standard frequencies are the frequencies to be adopted for single-phase and three-phase a.c. systems, for installations in ships, for a.c. traction systems, for tools and aircraft. BS EN 60196 is limited to frequencies up to 10000 Hz.
