What is BS EN 725-2 - Determining impurities in barium titanate powders about?
BS EN 725 is a European standard on advanced technical ceramics that discusses the methods of test for ceramic powders.
BS EN 725-2 is the second part of a multi-part series that describes a method for the determination of impurities in barium titanate powders using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES).
The method under BS EN 725-2 applies only to stoichiometric barium titanate. The maximum concentrations measured for each impurity are as follows:
Sr 4 mg/g (4 000 ppm)
Ca 500 μg/g (500 ppm)
K 200 μg/g (200 ppm)
Na, Mg, Al, Fe, Nb 100 μg/g (100 ppm)
The minimum concentration or detection limits are from 1 μg/g to 5 μg/g (1 ppm to 5 ppm) under BS EN 725-2 .
