What is BS EN IEC 61000 ‑ 6 ‑ 1 – EMC 16 A guidelines about?
BS EN IEC 61000 is a series on Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Electromagnetic compatibility is the ability of electrical equipment and systems to function acceptably in their electromagnetic environment, by limiting the unintentional generation, propagation and reception of electromagnetic energy which may cause unwanted effects such as electromagnetic interference (EMI) or even physical damage in operational equipment. BS EN IEC 61000 ‑ 6 ‑ 1 applies to electrical and electronic equipment intended for use in residential, commercial, public, and light-industrial locations. Immunity requirements in the frequency range 0 Hz to 400 GHz are covered. No tests need to be performed at frequencies where no requirements are specified. BS EN IEC 61000 ‑ 6 ‑ 1 is applicable if no relevant dedicated product or product family Electromagnetic compatibility immunity standard exists.
