What is ISO 11997-1 - resistance to cyclic corrosion in paints about?
Coatings such as varnish and paint are used not just for aesthetic appeal, but also to protect substrates from exposure and corrosion. Coatings that remain intact can extend the life of products significantly. ISO 11997-1 guides you with tests to determine the resistance of paints to corrosion. Coatings of paints, varnishes and similar materials are exposed to one of four cycles of wet and dry conditions specified in 11997-1 , using specified salt solutions in a cabinet in order to simulate, in the laboratory, processes occurring in aggressive outdoor conditions, such as marine environments.
