BS EN ISO 9239-1 uses measurements in the test method which provide a basis for estimating one aspect of fire exposure behaviour of floorings.
It specifies a method for assessing the wind-opposed burning behaviour and spread of flame of horizontally mounted floorings exposed to a heat flux radiant gradient in a test chamber, when ignited with pilot flames.
The method is applicable to all types of flooring.
BS EN ISO 9239-1 is the UK implementation of EN ISO 9239-1:2010. It supersedes BS EN ISO 9239-1:2002 which is withdrawn.
