Name in Russian:
ГОСТ Р 54432-2011
Flanges for valves, fittings, and pipelines for pressure from PN 1 to PN 200. Design, dimensions and general technical requirements
Full title and description
GOST R 54432-2011 — "Flanges for valves, fittings, and pipelines for nominal pressure from PN 1 to PN 200. Design, dimensions and general technical requirements". The standard specifies design and connecting dimensions for steel and cast-iron flanges used on valves, pipeline fittings, equipment nozzles and vessels for nominal pressures in the PN 1–PN 200 range, and sets general technical rules for manufacture, marking, tests and control.
Abstract
National Russian standard (GOST R) that defined flange types, sealing face forms, dimensional series and general technical requirements for flange manufacture and acceptance for nominal pressures PN 1 to PN 200. It provided guidance on material selection, fasteners and sealing surfaces and served as a reference for pipeline and valve manufacturers and engineering designers until it was superseded by a later interstate standard.
General information
- Status: Withdrawn / cancelled — replaced by interstate standard GOST 33259-2015 (GOST R 54432-2011 was cancelled by administrative order; its provisions were taken into account in GOST 33259-2015).
- Publication date: Designation year 2011; introduced into effect 1 April 2012 (publication/printing 2012).
- Publisher: National standard of the Russian Federation (issued through Rosstandart / Standartinform publication channels).
- ICS / categories: 23.040.60 (Flanges, couplings and connections; pipelines and their components).
- Edition / version: GOST R 54432-2011 (original national edition introduced 2012; later withdrawn and incorporated into GOST 33259-2015).
- Number of pages: Commonly cited as approx. 89 pages in official bibliographic records (commercial distributors list between ~89 and 98 pages).
Scope
The standard applied to connection flanges of pipeline valves, connecting parts and pipelines, and to connection flanges of machinery, equipment, instruments, nozzles, vessels and tanks with nominal pressures from PN 1 up to PN 200. It established types of flanges, dimensional parameters (DN, bolt circle, hole pattern, sealing face forms), mechanical and manufacturing requirements, marking, testing and quality control rules, and provided recommendations on choice of materials and fasteners depending on operating conditions. (Note: these requirements were later consolidated into the interstate standard GOST 33259-2015, which extended the nominal pressure range up to PN 250).
Key topics and requirements
- Classification of flange types and forms (flat/plate, weld-neck, blind, threaded, lap-joint, etc.) and their designation.
- Dimensional tables for DN (nominal diameter), PN (nominal pressure) classes PN 1…PN 200 and associated bolt circles, number/diameter of bolt holes and gasket face dimensions.
- Definitions of sealing surface forms and dimensions for mating flanges.
- Material guidance for steel and cast-iron flanges and selection recommendations for fasteners and gaskets relative to the medium and hazard level.
- Manufacturing and testing requirements: dimensional tolerances, heat treatment (where applicable), non‑destructive examination for welded flanges, marking, pressure/leakage testing and quality control.
- Compatibility notes with earlier GOST flange series and alignment with international standards (references to ISO 7005 series in later consolidated standards).
Typical use and users
Used by valve and flange manufacturers, pipeline and mechanical engineers, procurement/specification teams, testing and inspection departments, and regulatory compliance specialists for designing and verifying flange connections on process and utility piping within the PN 1–PN 200 range. After withdrawal, designers and manufacturers reference GOST 33259-2015 for contemporary practice.
Related standards
GOST R 54432-2011 is related to and was superseded/absorbed into GOST 33259-2015 (interstate standard covering flanges up to PN 250). It also relates to earlier GOST series (GOST 12815–12822, GOST 28759.x) and references international norms such as ISO 7005 (metallic flanges) in its bibliography and subsequent consolidated standards.

FAQ
Q: What is this standard?
A: GOST R 54432-2011 is a Russian national standard that specified the design, dimensions and general technical requirements for flanges used on valves, fittings and pipelines for nominal pressures from PN 1 to PN 200.
Q: What does it cover?
A: It covers classification of flange types and sealing faces, dimensional tables (DN, bolt circles, hole patterns), material and fastener guidance, manufacturing and testing requirements, marking and acceptance rules for flange components used in piping systems within the specified pressure range.
Q: Who typically uses it?
A: Valve and flange manufacturers, pipeline designers and engineers, procurement/specification writers, inspection and quality departments, and regulatory/compliance personnel working on piping and pressure equipment projects. After its withdrawal, these users generally follow GOST 33259-2015.
Q: Is it current or superseded?
A: Superseded. GOST R 54432-2011 was withdrawn/cancelled (effective documentation shows withdrawal from 1 April 2017) and its technical content was carried forward and consolidated into the interstate standard GOST 33259-2015 (effective implementation from 2016/2017 timeframe). Users should consult GOST 33259-2015 for the current, active requirements.
Q: Is it part of a series?
A: Yes — it belonged to the family of GOST/GOST R standards covering flanges and pipeline components (relations to GOST 12815–12822 series and other pipeline/valve standards). Its consolidation into GOST 33259-2015 created a single, modernized interstate reference for flange design and dimensions.
Q: What are the key keywords?
A: flange, flange connection, DN (nominal diameter), PN (nominal pressure), sealing face, bolt circle, gaskets, pipeline fittings, valve flanges, GOST R 54432-2011.
