Overview
EN 54-17:2005 is the CEN European Standard for short-circuit isolators used in building fire detection and fire alarm systems. The standard specifies requirements, test methods and performance criteria for isolators that limit the consequences of low-parallel-resistance faults on looped detector transmission paths. It applies to standalone isolators and isolators integrated into other devices (but not isolation means built into control and indicating equipment). EN 54-17 is part of the wider EN 54 series for fire detection systems.
