Overview

EN ISO 4895:2014 - Plastics: Liquid epoxy resins - Determination of tendency to crystallize specifies a laboratory method to assess the tendency of liquid epoxy resins to crystallize. The test quantifies how long a resin takes to show reduced fluidity and the onset of crystallization by periodic observation under controlled conditions. Results are reported as the number of days to reach defined stages of solidification.

- Cool to (23 ± 5) °C, add 20 g CaCO3 and 2 g ethanol, mix 2 min.
- Store vertically at (10 ± 2) °C.
- Observe twice daily (example schedule: start 09:00; first observation 17:00; then 09:00 next day, etc.). For each observation warm to 23 ±5 °C, place tube horizontally 1 min and record:
  - a: liquid tip movement L ≥ 10 mm
  - b: L
