Overview
EN ISO 5395-2:2013/A2:2017 is Amendment 2 to the European adoption of ISO 5395-2:2013. Published and approved by CEN in 2017, this amendment addresses cutting-means enclosure guards for pedestrian-controlled, combustion-engine-powered lawnmowers. It refines guard opening mechanisms, foot-protection test requirements and mandatory technical information in the instruction handbook. Opening or detaching of guards (4.5.2)
- Requires tool use to open or detach guards except where specific automatically closing or interlocked guards are used.
- Interlocked guards must meet ISO 14119 requirements and prevent power application until moving parts stop.
- Automatically closing side-discharge guards must lock, require distinct unlocking and opening actions, and re-close/lock automatically. A 20 N applied force must not release the locked guard from its locked state.

Foot protection test (5.3.2.2)
- Foot protection is verified using the foot-probe test defined in ISO 5395-1:2013, Annex C.
- Areas specified for probing include front openings, discharge openings and their sides (when within 3 mm of the blade tip circle), the rear between wheels, and areas within 60° of starting positions where the cutting means cannot be disengaged by a clutch.

Technical data in the instruction handbook (7.1.2)
- The handbook shall include, where required by regulation, at least the following items for each model:
- Nominal power (kW) and maximum engine speed (min-1)
- Machine mass with empty fuel tanks
- Cutting width (cm)
- A-weighted emission sound pressure at operator position and uncertainty (dB(A))
- A-weighted sound power level and uncertainty (dB(A))
- Hand-arm vibration values for handles and uncertainty (m/s²)
- Whole-body vibration for sulky operators (if applicable) and uncertainty (m/s²)
- Sales literature must not contradict handbook health, safety, noise or vibration information.
