Overview
EN ISO 6709:2022 (ISO 6709:2022) defines a standardized text representation for a single geographic point location by coordinates. The standard specifies how to represent latitude and longitude, and optionally height or depth, in a machine-readable text string that includes an unambiguous coordinate reference system (CRS) identifier. It also supports other coordinate types and associated time values when defined by a CRS. Files containing multiple points with a single common CRS are out of scope. A simpler, human-readable text-string structure is also described for use in documentation and user interfaces.
