Overview
IEC 61300-2-54:2019 specifies a laboratory test method to assess the corrosive effects of mixed gas atmospheres on fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components. Intended as a general corrosion test, it provides comparative data on material and assembly susceptibility to corrosive gases but does not predict in-use performance. The procedure uses a flowing mixed-gas chamber (based on IEC 60068-2-60 Test Ke) to expose devices under controlled temperature, humidity and gas concentration conditions.
