Overview
IEC 62769-100:2023 - Field Device Integration (FDI®) Part 100: Profiles – Generic Protocols - defines a standardized FDI profile for Generic Protocols to enable interoperable communication between hosts, gateways, communication servers and field devices. Published as Edition 2.0 (2023), this profile specifies all interfaces required so a host can add support for additional field protocols without changing its core implementation. The standard also identifies protocol specific definitions (PSD) that each protocol must supply (see Annex C) so FDI Device Packages, Communication Packages, Gateways and Communication Servers can operate together seamlessly in hosts that are not natively aware of those protocols.
