Overview
IEC TS 63297:2021 provides a state-of-the-art classification framework for NILM sensing devices (NSD) used in non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) systems. The Technical Specification focuses on how sensing devices are characterized and categorized (for example by sampling, output data rate and data bit rate) to support energy disaggregation based on load signatures measured at a single point in an electrical installation. It does not standardize NILM analytics or system performance indicators - those are left for future work. The document also clarifies the difference between estimated values from NILM and measured values from standardized meters and instruments (PMD, PQI).
