Overview - ISO 10786:2025 (Space systems - Structural components and assemblies)
ISO 10786:2025 defines requirements for the design, material selection, fabrication, testing and inspection of structural components and assemblies used in space systems. It applies to structural items in expendable and reusable launch vehicles, satellites and payloads, including fracture‑critical hardware, across all mission phases. Exceptions explicitly excluded are adaptive structures, propulsion systems, nuclear systems and thermal protection systems. The standard covers lifecycle topics from tailoring and manufacturing to in‑service inspection, maintenance, repair and traceability.
