ISO 10833:2025 - Textile floor coverings - Determination of resistance to damage at cut edges using the modified Vettermann drum test - specifies a laboratory method to assess the susceptibility of textile floor coverings to mechanical damage at cut edges. The test uses a modified Vettermann drum in which a stainless steel ball with rubber studs rolls against specimens to fatigue cut edges; the fatigued edges are then assessed for damage.

- Insert specimens in drum, place the ball, set revolutions to 11 000 cycles, run with vacuum operating continuously.
- After testing, vacuum-clean specimens with four passes each direction; assess appearance.

- Evaluate for fraying, delamination, tuft out, laddering/shooting and newly defined filamentation (hairiness not removable by brushing/suction).
