ISO 12996:2013 - Mechanical joining - Destructive testing of joints - Specimen dimensions and test procedure for tensile shear testing of single joints - specifies the geometry and test procedure for tensile shear testing of single mechanical joints on single and multilayer metal sheets (including extrusions and cast materials) with a single-sheet thickness up to 4.5 mm. The standard’s purpose is to determine mechanical characteristics and classify failure modes of different joining methods. It does not apply to civil engineering (metal building or steel construction) applications.
