Overview
ISO 13408-5:2006 - "Aseptic processing of health care products - Part 5: Sterilization in place" provides general requirements and guidance for sterilization in place (SIP) of product-contact surfaces in equipment used for aseptic manufacturing of sterile health care products. The standard covers delivery of steam, gaseous or liquid sterilizing agents to internal equipment surfaces, and addresses qualification, validation, operation and routine control of SIP processes. It does not apply to equipment dismantled and sterilized externally, nor does it replace national regulatory (GMP) requirements.
