Abstract

Overview - ISO 13546:2021 (Copper concentrates, mercury determination)

ISO 13546:2021 specifies a validated laboratory method for the determination of mercury in copper sulfide concentrates using an acid digestion followed by cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (CVAAS). The method applies to mercury mass fractions from 5 µg/g to 65 µg/g and defines sample preparation, reagents, apparatus, calibration and quality checks needed for reliable results. The procedure measures mercury vapour absorbance at 253.7 nm after chemical reduction and vapour generation.
