Overview
ISO 13565-1:1996 is part of the Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS) series and defines a filtering method and general measurement conditions for the profile-based assessment of surface texture on surfaces having stratified functional properties. It addresses measurement distortion caused by deep valleys beneath a finely finished plateau with minimal waviness (a common condition in components such as cylinder liners). The standard modifies the reference line determination so that roughness parameters reflect the functional plateau with reduced valley influence.
