Overview
ISO 14289-1:2014 (PDF/UA-1) - Document management applications - Electronic document file format enhancement for accessibility - Part 1: Use of ISO 32000‑1 - specifies how to use ISO 32000-1:2008 (PDF) to produce accessible electronic documents. Commonly referred to as PDF/UA, the standard defines which PDF components and usage patterns are required so documents can be reliably interpreted by people using assistive technology (screen readers, magnifiers, etc.). The standard also defines requirements for conforming files, conforming readers, and conforming assistive technology. It does not cover conversion processes, rendering implementation, storage media, or required hardware/operating systems.
