ISO 15649:2001 - "Petroleum and natural gas industries - Piping" specifies requirements for the design, construction, inspection and testing of piping used inside facilities that process or handle chemical, petroleum, natural gas or related products. It covers both metallic and non‑metallic piping and packaged equipment piping that interconnects individual pieces of equipment. The standard explicitly excludes transportation pipelines and their associated plant (for example, pipeline compressor or pump stations and risers up to pig launch facilities).
