ISO 16053:2022 - Paints and varnishes - Coating materials and coating systems for exterior wood - Natural weathering test - specifies a standardized natural weathering test for exterior wood coating systems intended for decoration and protection of planed and sawn wood. The method assesses coating performance during outdoor exposure (typically evaluated after 12 months) and provides a basis for performance specifications referenced in EN 927-2. The standard also enables comparison of coatings across different substrates, wood species and wood modifications by using a nominated weathering reference material (WRM).
