Overview
ISO 19379:2003 - "Ships and marine technology - ECS databases - Content, quality, updating and testing" specifies requirements and test methods for the production of an ECS Database (Electronic Charting System Database). The standard focuses on elements of the database that affect navigation safety: content, data quality, updating and testing. It applies to ECS (which display nautical chart data but do not meet all IMO ECDIS requirements) and is intended to help database producers, ECS manufacturers and national regulators ensure electronic chart data is fit for safe navigation.
