Overview
ISO 29465:2022 specifies a simple, repeatable method for the determination of length and width of full‑size thermal insulating products used in building applications. It defines required equipment, specimen conditioning, measurement positions and frequencies, result calculation and reporting so manufacturers, test laboratories and compliance bodies can obtain consistent dimensional data for insulation products.

- Normal: store/test at (23 ± 5) °C; in disputes use (23 ± 2) °C and 50 ± 5 % RH.
- Tropical option: (27 ± 2) °C and 65 ± 5 % RH (must be declared in report).
- Measurement procedure:
- Place specimen on a flat surface and take direct linear measurements.
- For specimens ≤ 1.5 m in both dimensions: one length and one width measurement at defined positions.
- For specimens > 1.5 m long: add one width measurement per extra metre (up to five measurements), spacing measurements equally; b is the mean of width measurements.
- For specimens > 1.5 m wide: add length measurements per extra metre of width, equally spaced.
- Readings to the nearest millimetre; for products ≥ 3 m long, report mean length to the nearest 5 mm.
- Results and reporting: express mean length and width in millimetres; include specimen ID, conditioning history, deviations, raw values and means, and reference to ISO 29465:2022.
