Overview
ISO 3454:2008 - Hydrometry - Direct depth sounding and suspension equipment defines functional requirements for instruments used in direct depth sounding and for suspending measuring devices (for example, current-meters or sediment samplers) in the measurement of liquid flow in open channels. The standard covers sounding rods, wading rods, sounding lines, cable suspension systems and associated accessories (gauging reels, weights, cranes), but excludes bankside cableway systems. It also includes informative guidance on selecting sinker weights and correcting depth measurements when the sounding line is not vertical.
