Overview
ISO 5488:2015 - Ships and marine technology - Accommodation ladders - specifies safety, design, manufacturing and testing requirements for accommodation ladders used on merchant ships (excluding passenger ships). The standard also covers accommodation ladders used in combination with pilot ladders (referred to as pilot accommodation ladders) and sets minimum dimensions, structural loads, material and surface treatment, testing, inspection and marking requirements to enable safe embarkation and disembarkation of crew and pilots.
