Overview
ISO 5892:2013 - Rubber building gaskets: Materials for preformed solid vulcanized structural gaskets - Specification defines material requirements for preformed solid vulcanized rubber structural gaskets used in sealing and supporting applications in buildings. The standard covers material types, working temperature ranges, mechanical and ageing performance, ozone resistance, and optional specific tests such as holding force and watertightness. It is intended for manufacturers, specifiers, test laboratories, façade engineers and procurement teams working with rubber building gaskets.

- Accelerated ageing
- Per ISO 188: test for 14 days at temperatures matched to working temperature category (examples in the standard: 70, 85, 100 or 125 °C).
- Allowed changes from unaged values: Shore A change 0 to +10; tensile strength decrease ≤ 15%; elongation decrease ≤ 40%.
- Low-temperature performance
- Brittleness: no failure at lowest temperature of intended use (ISO 812, procedure C).
- Low-temperature compression set (after 24 h at −25 °C): median recovery ≤ 80% (Type E) and ≤ 90% (Type F) after 30 min.
- Optional specific tests
- Holding force (Annex A): method for measuring force retaining glass/pressure plates (reported in N/m).
- Watertightness, flammability, contact/migration staining: subject to agreement or national regulations.
