Overview
ISO 7671:2003 - Plastics piping systems for soil and waste discharge (low and high temperature) inside buildings - Polypropylene (PP) specifies requirements and test parameters for solid‑wall polypropylene (PP) pipes and fittings used for soil, waste and indoor rainwater discharge and associated ventilation inside buildings. The standard covers system characteristics, material properties, geometrical and mechanical characteristics, jointing methods and installation guidance. Buried pipework is excluded.

- Thermal stability: Oxidation induction time (OIT), measured in accordance with EN 728 at 200 °C, shall be not less than 8 minutes for materials intended for butt fusion.
- Jointing methods: Approved jointing by elastomeric sealing rings (mechanical ring seals) or by butt fusion. Sealing ring retention may use non‑PP plastics if joints meet performance requirements.
- Geometrical and dimensional requirements: Specifies mean outside diameters, wall thickness ranges (metric series and inch‑based series), socket and spigot dimensions, chamfering, effective pipe lengths and permitted tolerances. Example sizes cover common DN/OD ranges (e.g., 32–200 mm in the metric series).
- Performance & testing: Defines test parameters and referenced test methods for mechanical, physical and performance requirements (e.g., resistance to elevated temperature cycling, watertightness, airtightness, impact resistance).
