ISO 8083:2006 specifies laboratory tests and performance requirements for falling-object protective structures (FOPS) used on mobile or self‑propelled forestry machinery (as defined in ISO 6814). The standard defines a reproducible drop‑test method to evaluate how well a protective structure prevents intrusion into the operator safety zone when struck by falling objects such as trees or large branches.
