Overview
ISO 8974:2002 specifies two gas‑chromatography (GC) methods for measuring residual phenol in phenolic resins. The standard describes sample preparation, selection of solvents and internal standards, GC apparatus and operating conditions, calibration procedures, result expression and quality checks. - Results expression: residual phenol is calculated from the response factor, peak area ratio and masses of test portion and internal standard (formula and calculation steps provided in the standard).
- Quality: the standard includes precision information and recommends periodic verification of calibration.
