Overview
ISO 9997:2020 - "Dentistry - Cartridge syringes" specifies requirements and test methods for cartridge syringes used with dental local anaesthetic cartridges. The standard covers non-aspirating, aspirating and self-aspirating syringe types and defines dimensional, material, functional and reprocessing requirements primarily for syringes with ISO metric thread needle mounts. It excludes cartridge syringes that use a mechanical-advantage action to create high pressure and notes the existence of syringes with imperial threads (Annex A).
