Overview
ISO/TR 22053:2021 - Safety of machinery - Safeguarding supportive system (SSS) - provides guidance for the design and integration of a safeguarding supportive system (SSS) used with integrated manufacturing systems (IMS). The technical report explains how an SSS can provide mode selection as part of safety-related parts of a control system (SRP/CS) or add a layer of personnel authentication and authorization to IMS designed according to ISO 11161. This guidance is intended to be used alongside ISO 11161 and does not cover personnel qualification or competency.
