Overview - ISO/TR 5307:1991 (Solid fertilizers sampling plan derivation)
ISO/TR 5307:1991 is a Technical Report (type 3) from ISO/TC 134 that presents the mathematical derivation of the sampling plan specified in ISO 8634 for the evaluation of a large delivery of solid fertilizers. It is intended as the theoretical background for acceptance inspection of bulk or packaged fertilizer deliveries of 250 t or more (for example full-shiploads). Annexes A and B provide tabulated values for information only.
Keywords: ISO TR 5307, sampling plan, solid fertilizers, large delivery, ISO 8634, sampling theory.
Key topics and technical requirements
Applications and who uses it
- Importers and distributors of solid fertilizers who must perform or commission acceptance inspection of large deliveries.
- National inspection authorities and regulatory agencies implementing official controls and enforcement.
- Quality assurance and laboratory personnel designing sampling and analysis strategies.
- Fertilizer manufacturers and exporters agreeing inspection plans with buyers.
- Standards bodies and statistical consultants advising on compliance sampling.
Practical benefits: ensures statistically justified acceptance/rejection criteria, quantifies seller’s and buyer’s risks, and optimizes sampling effort (number of increments and analyses) for cost-effective inspection.
