What is PD IEC TR 63149 - Photovoltaic (PV) farms about?
PD IEC TR 63149 is aimed at building mathematical models for the calculation of the distance between arrays, to farthest avoid shading and reasonably reduce the land usage of PV farms.
The key factor to affect land usage of PV plants is the distance between PV arrays. On the day of the winter solstice, there will be the most south-north shade. The boundary condition used in PD IEC TR 63149 to compute the south-north (S-N) distance between PV arrays is based on the winter solstice. When the sun is in the east, the longest east-west (E-W) shadowing occurs. The formulas are all the same, however, the users can adjust the boundary conditions based on local situations.
