What is ISO/TR 21946 about?
ISO/TR 21946 provides guidance on how to carry out an appraisal for managing records. ISO/TR 21946 describes some of the products and outcomes that can be delivered using the results of the appraisal. As such, ISO/TR 21946 describes a practical application of the concept of appraisal.
ISO/TR 21946 provides:
lists some of the main purposes for the appraisal;
describes the importance of establishing the scope for the appraisal;
explains how to analyse business functions and develop an understanding of their context;
explains how to identify records requirements;
describes the relationships between records requirements, business functions, and work processes;
explains how to use risk assessment for making decisions related to records;
lists options for documenting the results of appraisal;
describes possible uses for the results of appraisal; and
explains the importance of monitoring and review of the execution of appraisal decisions
