EN ISO 10081-1:2005 (identical to ISO 10081-1:2003) defines the classification and designation system for dense shaped refractory products of the alumina‑silica series. Published by CEN as a European adoption of the ISO text, it standardizes how alumina‑silica refractories are grouped and labelled for specification, procurement and quality control. The standard excludes products that contain >5% metallic oxides other than Al2O3, SiO2 or Fe2O3, and products containing >1% carbon or carbon‑based materials.
