Overview
EN ISO 8501-3:2025 (ISO 8501-3:2025) specifies visual assessment criteria and preparation grades for welds, edges and other areas with surface imperfections on steel substrates prior to application of paints and related products. This third edition (2025) updates illustrations and guidance from the 2007 version and is endorsed by CEN. It is a visual, practical standard intended to help achieve effective corrosion protection by identifying and classifying visible imperfections that can exist before - or become apparent after - abrasive blast cleaning.
